Time for Phonics - Book 4 extends the phonetic approach to a higher level with more word families, more blends and some basic spelling rules.
Phonetic irregularities are explained as the student works towards developing proficient reading skills. An understanding of how to break compound words, homographs and homophones into syllables is a skill that will result in the student becoming a proficient reader.
A variety of activities including word puzzles are provided to help extend skills and knowledge in reading and spelling. The personal word box will continue to provide a vehicle for individual learning based on student needs.
Series Description
The Time for Phonics series has been developed from the guildelines of the English and Reading curriculum. It was created by an experienced teacher/author who has written many other educational resources for young children.
Each book contains a wealth of graded activities with colour illustrations to make the process more meaningful and enjoyable for children. As activities in each book are completed, the child will develop proficient word attack and literacy skills. There is also a scope for revision built into each book, which will assist in the learning process. Assessment tasks are included for diagnostic purposes.
