Environmental Studies is a series of four blackline masters that aims to provide an introduction to the environment for primary school children.
The books have three main aims:
- to provide an understanding of what the environment is and the role that humans have in the environment;
- to provide a history of human development in relation to the environment and develop an understanding of the types of environmental interference and damage that humans are responsible for; and
- to provide information on and develop positive attitudes towards conservation of the environment.
The activities provide a framework for what can be interesting and productive discussion on environmental matters. Teachers notes are provided to assist in the development of discussion. In most cases, the activities provided should precede or be part of discussion rather than be treated in isolation. Students of this age should be encouraged to develop a very positive attitude towards the environment as they will be responsible for its future management.
