Electroluminescent (EL) wire is commonly used in costumes, decorations and DIY signs. EL wire is a flexible phosphor coated copper wire which glows a particular colour when an alternating current is applied to it. It looks a lot like a very thin neon tube. The required power comes from the X4101 controller unit which can be fitted with 2 x AA batteries (we recommend long life lithiums, such as our S4906). The compact controller features two flashing speeds or constant on and is small enough to fit in your pocket. Note that the controller has a small inverter built in and will emit a low volume high pitch sound when switched on (this is typical of almost all EL wire controllers). EL wire rolls and controller are fitted with mating locking JST connectors.
X4102 capping can be used to seal the ends of cut lengths, caps are sold per each.
X4103 is a 15cm bare ends fig ‘8’ cable fitted with a 2 pin JST male connector, which can be used when splitting a 3m roll into shorter lengths.
